Hi all.

Ok, so I got this email that said I should introduce myself here.

My name is Barbara.
I am 19 years old.
I go to FSU and am majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Genetics.
I like to surf the net, watch old movies, and annoy the heck out of my mom (as I am doing now, ha ha).
I am Christian but am the minority in my family, I am the only one who is religious except my little sister, but she is only 9 so she doesn't really count.
Why I joined this, I have been reading my moms posts for a long time now and instead of arguing with her, I decided I am going to argue with you all instead. I think I may not get in as much hot water this way. With any luck, I will show her how wrong she is (and pigs fly!!!).

So is there anything else I am suppose to put here?

I've noticed that too.

We used to think that we were going to be the first generation not to end up like our parents' generation. We were right and we were wrong.

Is that a question or a statement?

It might be.

I had no intention of using a threat. I just thought that knowledge of logical fallacies might be useful in debating. And I only want what's best for you. But you have probably heard that before.

Older? You are just fresh out of luck then, huh?

I am not suggesting you are using a threat, I am the one threatening. I am wondering if that presents a logical fallacy. If not, then shouldn't you accept my position in the interest of good care once you can no longer remember your name? It was a joke. It loses the effect when you have to explain it. You really are old  .

And yes, I hear that every day. Sometimes it is true. Sometimes it isn't. Often it means "I want to get in your pants" LOL.

Welcome AlexiaRose. Your mother must have a lot of faith in you to allow you into this battleground. ;)

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

"Ha Ha Ha", said the spider to the fly. No silly billy, mom has no faith. But that is ok, I think God loves her anyways. Now, if I could just get her to understand that:

Considering my geneology, I am a fluke. But that is ok. Don't sweat the small stuff and deal with the biggies one at a time, but these smiley thingies really help!!! :joy:

Hey Alex.

I have been reading a few of your posts. You seem to be much more openminded and less Fundi of a Christian. I believe we may have much in common. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts.

PS - Watch out for MCCulloch. He gets grouchy if your gramir isnt totaly corekt and if knot he always lets u no real qick and he realy hates runonsentences so i had better stop or i will get a lecutur from him latr.
It is a first class human tragedy that people of the earth who claim to believe in the message of Jesus, whom they describe as the Prince of Peace, show little of that belief in actual practice.
