three good questions

Post by filiasan »

I'm making this short and simple. Here they go:
1) What religion do you follow?
2) What kind of impression do most Christians give you? Be honest!
3) What kind of person do you most admire?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
as for me:
1)I think I tend toward Buddhism, but I'm not quite certain (of course, you can never be).
2)The majority tend to be either ignorant, innocent, or worse...have their own hidden agenda (those types come on too strong).
2)The type that's open-minded, yet does not tolerate social injustices, at least those severe ones that threaten to shape one's life and they way one thinks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(lastly, thanks to otseng for showing this newbie where to go)

1. I'm a Christian
2. Like otseng, most Christians I know are very sincere, and a lot of them are wise and humble. But as a whole I think we have a real problem with hypocrisy.
3. Well people who are like Jesus I guess. Wise, loving, humble and yet able, people who are completely free of anything anyone might hold over them, and yet don't abuse people with that. People who aren't scared of showing who they are. Self-confidence, I suppose, but not arrogance.

1) What religion do you follow?

None.

2) What kind of impression do most Christians give you? Be honest!

Most Christians I have met seem well-meaning and condescending. Most seem to be buffet-style spiritualists who pick and choose their beliefs from different religions and call it "Christian."

3) What kind of person do you most admire?

Someone who can game the system for the greater good. Someone who is not afraid of life and its trials, but has the courage to admit his/her shortcomings.

1) What religion do you follow?

I subscribe to many buddhist beliefs and philosophy, although I wouldn't exactly consider buddhism as a religion as it is more of a way of life.

I have delved into, and am open and accepting of other religions and beliefs as well, so long as I do not perceive them to be the work of exclusivists and that they pursue goals for the good of all. These mainly include, but are not limited to Transcendental Meditation, Eckankar, New Age philosophy, parts of Christianity, Sathya Sai Baba's teachings, Astrology, segments of Soul/Astral travel, and Tibetan Buddhism.

2) What kind of impression do most Christians give you? Be honest!

Having spent my entire childhood in a Catholic school, in a predominantly Catholic nation, and actually being one for over 18 years, I do not see a majority of Christians in a particularly different light, as I would a person of another religion. I find it very difficult, however, to pursue a conversation with some "fanatical" Christians who would do anything or come up with any argument to defend the bible at all costs even at times when the book is irrational.

3) What kind of person do you most admire?

People who have become the embodiment of the infinte prosperity the universe grants us -- spiritually knowledgeable , materially affluent, wise and rational, compassionate and humane, one who enriches the lives of others. In other words, people who have become masters of themselves.

1. I dont follow a "religion" if you want to classify it as Christianity you can but religion means to bind up and thats no what Christianity is all about its about being free in Christ
2.Sadly most Christians are so fake and it makes all of us look bad which sucks or you get the crazy ones that do stuff that i think drives people away, i try(fail but try) to live as Christ did because he is the ultimate reflection of holiness and true perfection(a little tree63)
3. i admire someone that is real, that is the same way all the time good times or not

3) What kind of person do you most admire?
1) None. No 'need'.
2) They kind of make the acids in my stomach come up. Hard to believe that people still believe that superstitious mindless crappola. There is no hope. (You wanted honesty!) The impression is usually that they are stupid, and I usually try to avoid contact other than to take their money (like their preachers! Hahahaha).
3) Anyone that actually has the ability to think rationally, creatively, like Einstein, Feynman, Buddha and myself!

Now, what is the next thread, "What's your favorite color?" (Please refer to #2)

1. I am a Protestant Christian
2. If you mean those who profess to be Christians: they make me sick. If you mean those who are actually followers of Christ: I've met very few, but I would have to say that I am encouraged by them.
3. Someone who uses logic, and will not ignore what they know the truth is. :)

1) Christian, Episcopal
2) Fundamentalist Christians or for that matter persons of a fundamentalist faith seem quite unforgiving and give me the impression of being judgmental. The majority of Christians impress me as regular people, Good Bad and the Ugly, which includes all of the flavors in between as well.
3) People comfortable within their skins, they seem the most apt to accept people as individuals and respect all points of view. I suspect it is not a coincidence that I tend to learn most from those people.

Hi.

1. 'Weak atheist' fits. So does 'weak agnostic'. I'm a metaphysical naturalist by default: I'm unpersuaded that the supernatural exists, but I don't hold it to be impossible.

2. Christians are diverse and generalization is likely to be dangerously misleading. I suppose that I might say that the average Christian impresses me as likely to be well-meaning, but not likely to be a critical thinker, inasmuch as most think it good for faith to override reason.

3. I most admire those who exercise intelligence, courage, and kindness.

1.) None. But, I don't feel the need to bash other religions just because I don't follow them

2.) They try to make me feel bad because I don't follow their beliefs.

3.) People who can be themselves without worrying about what other people think about them.
