Disconnected Sources
When considering the truth / accuracy / veracity of a claim or statement it is important to consider information from multiple DISCONNECTED sources.
Which would you trust more?
A) A sales / promotion brochure produced in-house by a company promoting their product and reproducing articles by several company representatives giving glowing reports.
B) A research article citing results of testing by several consumer product evaluation organizations and several universities from multiple nations.
It doesn't require great critical thinking skills to conclude that 'B' is vastly superior if one is interested in truth and accuracy -- and to realize that 'A' is likely to be heavily biased in favor of the product.
Notice that claims and stories presented by Apologists are supported primarily or exclusively by CONNECTED sources (people who are part of the promotional organization). 'Miracles' and 'proof of divinity' and 'resurrections' are written about EXCLUSIVELY by in-house people.
The Bible is a 'promotion brochure'. Gospel writers are company representatives.
A long dead body returning to life, a 'god' walking the Earth, and physics-defying 'miracles' SHOULD be apparent or obvious regardless of one's theistic position / beliefs / opinions. If a body could levitate into the sky, one would not have to be a believer to observe the event.
Apologists take on the difficult task of insisting that 'A' should be believed and 'B' should be discounted or 'explained away'.
