Is creationism supported only by Christians?

Evolutionists say there is no room for creationism in the public schools and Christians are seen as forcing their religion into schools under the guise of Intelligent design.

Do Rabbi's have an opinion?

And would society hear their opinion?

Let's follow that logic track and perhaps you could tell us what Theistic Evolutionists are trying to "attack and destroy" and what political ideology they are "promoting" when they accept evolution?

This is a tangent about Jewish interpretations, but I find it interesting that few Creationists realize that Genesis was written down during the Babylonian captivity and the creation events are a sort of code stripping the Babylonian gods of their power and attributing the Universe to YHWH.

There's also the unintended irony of the "plain reading" argument by Creationists who throw out the historical context that the Torah is meant to be chanted, and thus would have a rhythmic metre like "the evening and the morning" even if it was using yom to mean "great periods of time."

I wish I had a transcript, but during a C-SPAN Washington Journal segment devoted to the ID controversy, a Jewish caller from New York called in and said that when he'd attended Yeshiva as a youngster, it was taught and understood that Genesis was allegorical. I extrapolate from that fact that for Jews, Genesis teaches the lesson about sin, righteousness and why man is seperated from God, while the other four books teach how to reestablish that relationship. Similarly in Christianity, the same applies to Genesis, but it is the four Gospels that serve the latter purpose.

But what do I know, I'm an atheist trying to destroy Christianity by promoting evolution... :eyebrow:

The Jewish tradition has a long history of dealing with the sacred texts.
Oral tradition and other writings. Later these become sacred text. During Jesus time you had some who were fundamentalist and no other interpretation or text was believed in they ran the temple system and worked with the Romans. The other Group is the Pharisees and such who had the traditions and the text. The NT may have started out as a continuation of this tradition or oral and continuation of what later is call revelation and becomes sacred text. Religions like their literature grow and evolve. Some hang on to the old as best they can and if it works they continue if it doesn't they change or become extinct.
Wow it does not seem much different.
I will stick with change.
