A comment was made on possibly renaming the "C vs E" subforum. So, I would like to solicit input on renaming it.
Should the "Creationism vs Evolutionism" subforum be renamed back to "Science and Religion"? Should it be renamed to something else? If so, what suggestions do you have?
Should "Creationism vs Evolutionism" be renamed?

As it stands now, there are 6 votes for a change back to "Science and Religion" versus 1 for all the others. So, I'll be changing the name of the subforum.

It seems like when I renamed the subforum, the "watch this subforum" got reset. So, you'll need to resubscribe to this subforum if you want to continue to watch it.

Creationism and evolutionism are not comparable hypotheses on a single phenomenon. Creationism is an assertion of agency. Evolutionism is a hypothesis -- actually several hypotheses -- of mechanism.

My only objection to the name change would be semantic. It should be "Creationism and Evolution" (or Evolutionary Theory) if that's where the focus is going to wind up (as it invariably will).
"Science and Religion" is a topic area ammenable to apologetical issues like can science demonstrate a soul, does Archeology confirm the Bible and 'demonic possession - reality or myth?' I would encompass the scope of the Creationist/evolution debate as well, so I guess it would be up to the Mods as to whether science/religion conflicts seperate from Creationism/evolution should be moved to apologetics or other forums were this one to limit it's focus.

That will effectively stifle discussion and debate on creationist and evolutionist theory because a subforum on "Science and Religion" will of necessity be eventually reduced to philosophical analyses and definitions of the constitution and nature of human knowledge.otseng wrote:As it stands now, there are 6 votes for a change back to "Science and Religion" versus 1 for all the others. A subforum on "Science and Religion" is not a bad idea, but it will ultimately degenerate into epistomological rhetoric, so why not name a new forum "Epistimological Differences and Similarities in Science and Religion," and leave Creationists and Evolutionists alone?
