It's a sunny summer's day here

Hi, everybody.
I'm new to this Forum.
My real name is Julio.
Petrol [fuel] price not the best in the world [+-R7.80] here.
I live in Johannesburg [now for 35 years]; and I'm married to the same wife; have three sons and three granddaughters.
Bananas are always cheap and tasty.
I'm retired, but still involved in electronics repairs.
Mangoes are at the moment cheap. in this metropolis.
World Soccer Finals will be in June/July here, the nearest field where they will play, some 5 km from my house.
I love macro photography.
I am aggressive against religion, but not disrespectful towards people; never.
I drive a Volkswagen Polo.
I've been kicked out of many other forums for what they call trolling, but it was wrong.
Peanuts here are also kind of cheap [like them with raisins].
Hope this forum is more lenient & tolerant.
Bread rolls are a Rand per unit.
I have three fig trees in my backyard full of them.
I also grow & love chillies.
Why have you banned so many members?
I have already written twelve books, three in Portuguese.
Are the moderators here Christians [or fundamentalists]?
I cut my fingernails twice a month.

Have a full week of sunny afternoons.

This is good. We value respect here.

We do not take any of that into account here.

We try.

There is a process which involves warnings, a period of probation and the consensus of the moderators. But given human nature and the nature of the topics being discussed, some people just cannot bring themselves to be civil and respectful. Have a look at the Rules.

We currently have seven moderators, three Christians, two Atheists, one Unitarian Universalist and one Jewish.

Welcome!

I love macro photography.

Is that a macro of your nose in your profile pic?

Hope this forum is more lenient & tolerant.

As long as the rules are followed, we are quite lenient and tolerant.

Why have you banned so many members?

Simply because they did not follow the rules.
I have already written twelve books, three in Portuguese.

Wow! I'm hoping to write my first book this year. What books have you written?

I believe you [forums in general] ban more men than women.
Why is that?
And the bannings are more in religious matters.
Am I right?

It might have something to do with the fact that there are significantly more men than women participating on this forum. At the risk of sounding sexist, it has been my subjective observation, backed up by no objective empirical data, that men are more likely to be stubbornly and rudely disrespectful than women.

Since, by definition, this site deals almost exclusively with religious matters, then yes, most of the bannings are in religious matters. I don't know the exact breakdown, but I can think of cases of both believers and unbelievers who have been banned. Many people feel very strongly about their religious beliefs and feel personally attacked when those cherished beliefs are challenged.

To be honest, I've been banned many times from forums [many times also from Orkut, Brazilian forums of Google].
Actually, one of my books in Portuguese is a collection of posts at several forums of Orkut over a period of an year.
I titled that book "Burying Ashes" - in Portuguese "Enterrando Cinzas", 303 pages, published at Lulu.com.
I am not disrespectful of people, but rather nasty & aggressive to religion and its spreading of fear among the imprudent.
Religious forums, in general, attempt to protect themselves from empirical objectivity with rather stringent rules and biased moderators; it's my personal impression.

As long as you present your arguments respectfully, you can be as logically aggressive as you want in your arguments.

In general, that's true. But, stay around for a bit, and hopefully you'll see that the moderating team here is far more balanced than other forums out there.

That may be perceived as sexist by some, but I'd say its accurate regardless.

I'm rather fond of women...

It is not as if it is not well known that men are commonly more aggressive then women.
Anyway, its more generally permitted to be sexist against your own gender, and quite PC to be sexist against men, so no worries.
We do not hate others because of the flaws in their souls, we hate them because of the flaws in our own.
