In the Jewish culture at the time, the term 'Son of God' was a term that was used for someone who was particularly righteous, and did not mean a literal 'son of god' as is being interpreted by Christians. King David was also the son of God, because he was exaulted by God.

In the Quran from surah 3:35 - 3:47 it describes the story of Zakariya and the birth of Mary, Yahya (John the baptist in the bible) and then onto the birth of Jesus. The quran says 3:44 (Y. Ali) This is part of the tidings of the things unseen, which We reveal unto thee (O Messenger.) by inspiration: Thou wast not with them when they cast lots with arrows, as to which of them should be charged with the care of Mary: Nor wast thou with them when they disputed (the point).
