Hey Gang

Post by UnbreakableWill »

Hi. -Just read a few of the other "hello" posts, I too found this site through Google, and it seems like one of the more reasonable and nicely put together ones out there, this will actually be my first religious forum registered on.

A bit about me- I grew up in Alaska, with my mother attended a Unitarian church as a child, but stopped around 12 or so. I've attended 2 Universities, and now reside on the West Coast. I've traveled to Europe and Japan, and have been exposed to a multitude of cultures and belief systems.

My best friend all throughout Jr. High and High school found Jesus toward the end of HS, and became easily the most hardcore Christian I know, to the point that I can't really talk to him now without him trying to save me.
As we've grown older, and gone further down our separate paths, this has created an interesting and dynamic split, and that is a small part of my being here, but it's really more that I seek to further my own understanding.

I suppose I am an atheist, but I consider myself a reasonable and open minded one. If something makes sense to me, I will embrace it, and if not, I will question it.

I look forward to debating and hopefully breaking some new ground.

Cheers,
Will

Welcome Will. I used to be anti-atheist, but now that I have come out of the Christian cult I can now accept them as friends and fellow human beings, all doing the best with what information they have.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

Welcome! I love that movie, Dogma. It's hilarious! See you around!

Wecome to the forum......
What we do for ourselves dies with us,
What we do for others and the world remains
and is immortal.
