Post #1A little place to just chat about Music. What are you listening to? What music stirs your soul? Do you perform?

I bet I know what you're talkling about. In a male quartet the names of the parts are different (I suppose for masculinity's sake). You know that there are four parts in a choir. Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass. That's from highest to lowest. In a male quartet, they change the names to Lead, TENOR, Baritone, Bass. The lead sings the sprano at natural male range which is one octave lower than the G Cleft is written. The Tenor, however, hits the alto part where it is written, which is super high. So tenor in a choir is Baritone in a male quartet. True tenor is sung between bass and alto and there is no baritone, though there might be some counter-tenor. The tenor that we all think of is the super high tenor (actually alto) which is sung in most barbershop quartets.FinalEnigma wrote:And that's actually a tenor range?ChristianGuy wrote:your range is about the same as mine. I have a lot of trouble hitting that G right above the F
i didn't think tenor went as low as that.
My brother can hit that G btw, and the A too. Jerk.(j/k)
I hope that helped. I never understood why we sang lower either until a few month's ago.
fogive me for any speling poblerms

For me, I love almost anything 80s. Even some of the bands I hated in the 80s I now have greated hits CDs of.
New Wave is my favourite genre.

New Wave is my favourite genre.
Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.
Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.
There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

Mac! being a note Nazi now too? :p also trying to make me ruin my keyboard by laughing while drinking water apparently.McCulloch wrote:Forgive me for pointing it out, but every G is right above an F.ChristianGuy wrote:your range is about the same as mine. as a side note, for my own purposes I am starting to collect a list of bands I like(this will become very huge) and organizing it somewhat on a website, but I figure as long as I am doing it, I might as well make it available to any who are interested. I've got links(well, sort of. will be links soon, for now you have to copy paste it to address line) to playlists on youtube of a couple of the bands and will be adding more over time. I didn't have much time to get it started, so I've only got the first few bands that popped into my head.

Incidentally, anyone know any good songs/bands that go along with my soft rock playlist and fit with the style? trying to find more stuff in that category, but can't think of any offhand. for reference, it is as follows:
five for fighting-100 years
Goo Goo dolls-Iris
Foo Fighters-everlong
3 doors down-here without you
3 doors down-It's not my time
five for fighting-It's not easy.

I am a piano player. I have seven Fs in my range. Specifying a note as being the F is somewhat meaningless.ChristianGuy wrote:Excuse me, your musicalness, for violating your intelligence.McCulloch wrote:Forgive me for pointing it out, but every G is right above an F.ChristianGuy wrote:your range is about the same as mine. I have been singing (not continuously..lol) since childhood and was classically trained. As a kid I sang both in Choral Festivals and also did a few Accapella Solo's at the Sydney Opera House. There was even a short sting in my adult life where I was in an Elvis Revival Show (based strictly on the Hawaii concert...literally...word for word, action for action...even the dodgy clothes... it was tiring) - my "part" in it was the Kathy Westmoreland vocals. Even now when I hear Elvis songs, I "sing along" only doing the "yeah yeah yeah's"..."oohhhh's" and *snip* words...yes, even in grocery stores.. lol One can imagine the side-ways glances.
The only instrument I "play" is my vocal chords. I envy those able to do more.
Over years I have written many poems and as such, a few have been turned into song lyrics. It is a wonderfully therapeutic release, and sometimes words simply MUST be put to music.
I do love most music and this may sound bizarre, but I personally believe that Trey Parker (Southpark) is a musical genius.
If I had to choose a favourite genre of music then it would have to be Big Band/Jazz/Swing and it has much to do with the ambience it brings with it.
