The official music thread

I believe "General Chat" is the correct place for this thread.

Everybody can list their favorite current bands, or all time faves, then others can judge you as a person based on who you put.

Fallibone, I can see you like the Blues

Going back to the 60's and 70's it got a distinctly psychedelic flavour which is great (is there anyone that doesn't like Hendrix

). CAN were pure experiment -- Gong were plain crazy. They probably seem childish to some but their "tripped-out space theme" is a multi-level thing that touches on some of the deepest philo I've seen from a band. Well worth the effort of experiencing their "classic" trilogy of albums "Flying Teapot", "Angels Egg" and "You".

Also on YouTube. I do like the idea of that and the music is a perfect candidate for "Weilization" but the band never quite seem to succeed at it. Then again, it's growing on me a bit more. It's always good to see a nod in Weil's direction

Slight correcetion here - it's Yann Tiersen, not Jacques Brel. Always get them confused. It's a concertina thing.

I can see what you're saying. I had the pleasure of being there on one occasion when they performed this, and the atmosphere added to it a great deal. It was only ever really meant to be a 'novelty' - type thing to end the gig with (well there was an encore after it), but I developed a soft spot for it.
