Paradise on Earth

Post #1

Post by onewithhim »

When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?

If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.

We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.

Matthew 5:5
Psalm 37:9-11,29

I'm sorry but I can't see your take on this subject. I don't know why you cling to "ashes" as an explanation for anything. Peter said that it would be like the days of Noah, and the earth wasn't destroyed then though it was said to be destroyed. The earth remained and will remain after Armageddon. It is the "ungodly men" that will be destroyed, as if turned to ashes.
Oh, sorry, you tried to escape again, I cling to the "ashes" as it clearly means "to reduce to ashes as to burn up completely" or "to destroy by fire and leave only ashes". Proven by the text below, it did not refer to the wicked, it did refer to Sodom and Gomorrah;

2 Peter 2:6
6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly thereafter;
NASB
I think I've explained enough about this "ashes" thing. I'm sorry you don't understand what I was saying. We can agree to disagree.
I don't see where you addressed the "ashes" thing, as far as I've observed you've tried to avoid it.
I haven't avoided anything. I took it head-on and explained why I would go with the "revealed" or "discovered" rendering.
Ok, can you guide me where on our responses that you've accepted the Bible lexicon definition of "ashes"?

It's because I see none from our discussion. You always evade it, and changed topic to "burn up".

I do not "evade" the subject of "ashes." I told you what your resources say about "ashes" and also "burned up" and "revealed" or "discovered." All of those are possible translations but you evade the rendering of "revealed" or "discovered." You completely ignore that translation, which was fine with your source. If the earth and the works in it were "revealed," that meaning is much more sensible than the earth made into ashes.

Revealed or discovered is the Bible lexicon definition of "burn up."
While "ashes" by Mounce lexicon means as "to reduce to ashes, to consume, destroy.
You evade engaging that definition, as it disprove your point.

No, YOU are evading "revealed" or "discovered." It is not the same thing as "burned up."

I am the one that consult the lexicon and I evade it?
I believe that you were not taught to turn to lexicons.
I might believe that by doing so, will cause you being be "dis fellow" if you consult Bible lexicons?
Just an inquiry, just to know if it is true or not.

We are not discouraged from looking at lexicons. No one would be removed. The Watchtower looks at just about everything.

So many people have a skewed view of what Jehovah's Witnesses believe. I appreciate it when someone asks questions.

Good, because I noticed you haven't consulted one in our responses.
