THE FUTURE

Post by onewithhim »

Haven't we all, at one time or another, wondered what the future will be like? Experts of men have had a spotty reputation as most of their predictions have proved untrue.

What does the Bible tell us? "The God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed....It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever." (Daniel 2:44, Revised Standard Version)

Is this good news? Of course, when we realize what God's Kingdom is. It is a real government that will replace all of the existing governments on the earth and stand forever. Stability and order will be brought to people on the earth. What will life be like under this government?

NO MORE WAR (Psalm 46:9)
NO MORE SICKNESS (Isaiah 33:24)
NO MORE FOOD SHORTAGE (Psalm 72:16)
NO MORE PAIN, SORROW AND DEATH (Revelation 21:4)

These are just some of the promises made in the Bible about God's Kingdom, and there are more. God has promised all these wonderful things for the future. All righteously inclined people can avail themselves of these promises. Does this sound good to you?

The spirit realm is the only immortal realm.

God put an age limit of 120 years on the age of any one man.
The spirit realm is not for immortals only. That has been shown with ITimothy 6:16. And that 120 years was not an age limit for men. People lived many years after that, beyond 120 years. Methuselah lived for approx. 900 years.

The Bible describes a wonderful future for mankind right here on this beautiful planet. Our Creator will "wipe away every tear from our eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things [former things] will have passed away." (Revelation 21:4, NASB) Brackets mine.

Then name an immortal natural bodied animal.

Then Methuselah was born prior to the 120 year limit being set in our DNA.

I might be wrong, but I think that Methuselah was born after the Flood.

I guess that doesn't include women:
Jeanne Louise Calment (French: [ʒan lwiz kalmɑ̃] ⓘ; 21 February 1875 – 4 August 1997) was a French supercentenarian and, with a documented lifespan of 122 years and 164 days, is the world's oldest verified person. Her longevity attracted media attention and medical studies of her health and lifestyle.

Either that or God wasn't paying attention to Jeanne. Reality is a hoot, no?

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

She is the only person with claims of living more than 120 years (in modern times).

Sometimes I can't remember how old I am. Being French, perhaps her age is given in metric years. Who ya gonna believe, the French or God?

Importantly, scientists agree with the scriptures on the 120 years max.

Sometime around 1975-1980, a group of scientists concluded that human beings could live to a maximum of one hundred and twenty years of age. It was discovered that shortly before reaching one hundred and twenty the process that causes body cells to reproduce fails. The cells then die as well as the person.

They believe this cell division process is caused by what they called telomeres. This they believe is the key to the human life cycle. Telomeres are repeating DNA strings (TTAGGG) that cap chromosomes. Each time a cell divides its telomeres become shorter. When they reach a preset length the cell ceases to divide, ages, and dies.

Independently, others came up with exactly the same number as the maximum age for mortal mankind three thousand years ago:

And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years. (Genesis 6:3)

That is true. And he died just before the Flood. Now, Noah lived for 350 years after the Flood, so where do the "120 years" come in? It's not man's life span. Man lived for a lot more than 120 years after the Flood.

That goes along with what I said. So why is it said by some that man's lifespan was 120 years?
