Just for laughs, how about we give some awards?
I propose a poll to determine the best rock/pop CD or album ever. Let's get some nominations in, say three to five each, and then I'll see if I can con somebody into doing a poll where we can each vote three (or five) times.
What I have in mind are the most innovative, groundbreaking or seminal albums or CDs ever, the ones that had the most impact on the music world. "Greatest Hits" albums and collections are OK, but I think the original works are more interesting.
Whaddaya say?
I'll start with my next post.

Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
The Wall - Pink Floyd
Radio KAOS - Roger Waters
The Wall, Live in Berlin - Roger Waters
I include Live in Berlin because it holds well on its own even against the original.
Ten - Pearl Jam
Dirt Track Date - Southern Culture on the Skids
Liquor in the Front - Reverend Horton Heat
(edit for clarity)

Do concept albums count? *eventually notices The Wall has already been nominated*. OK then, I'll go along with Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall and throw in Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds. Did that make it over the pond? My sister who is 12 years my senior introduced me to it when I was 8, and it scared the living daylights out of me. When she moved out I hid her vinyl, which I hung onto and listened to obsessively until some time in my teens when she eventually noticed it was missing. So I then bought the cassette and later the CD. Now I have it on my Creative Zen, and also own the stage show on DVD.

Post #8Good point on concept albums. It reminded me of one of my favorites: Blows Against the Empire, Jefferson Starship. It won a Hugo, if I remember correctly, from the Science Fiction Writers of America. Weird scene; all these old guys in suits applauding as Paul Kantner, Jack Casady, Gracie and the whole crew of paisley-and-leather-fringe-clad hippies come down to accept the award. Great record. I had it on vinyl, B-track and cassette, that's how old I am. .

- Bridge over Troubled Water (1970) by Simon and Garfunkel

- Fragile (1971) by Yes
- Rumours (1977) by Fleetwood Mac
- Hotel California (1976) by the Eagles

Scary albums?
I have a Disney album called Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House.
When my son & nephews were younger, and they'd come to visit, I'd hafta sneak off to the shed to do my toking. If they ever came out bothering about, all I had to do was put that album on and they'd go running back to the house. LOL. Their mom's hated me for a good spell.
