So I thought I would say hello to you all I'm female, 29 and in the midlands in England. I've loved reading all the topics and debates and discussions recently and am looking forward to sharing my opinion. I was lucky enough to be born into a family with no religious beliefs whatsoever which has enabled me to study various different organised religions and belief systems free of any prejudice. I would consider myself an atheist but I'm always willing to learn from others. I'm most looking forward to continuing my education here as I've never studied any particular religion in depth and I'm especially interested in the evolution of religion and the effects on societies. Lol I probably won't be discussing much philosophy as my brain starts to hurt when it gets to the finer points but I read a huge amount of random stuff so will have plenty to say! thx for listening
Welcome to the forum. You were indeed fortunate to have suffered no religious indoctrination as a child and to have had the opportunity to study various organized religions. It is significant that you chose "none of the above" as your preference.

Welcome Candy! I look forward to seeing what you have to say on the various topics.
Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.
Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.
There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.
Welcome to the party. It looks like you've done some homework, which is a good thing. Discussions and debates here can get pretty deep and involved. And don't mind Skyler, he's just going through some things (just kidding ). I'm sure you'll like it here.
