Hello,

Just wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself. I am JP, Christian, husband, and father of 3. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and engaging in some lively debate.

My name is Robert and I am an Atheist. I am a sophomore in High School. I live in Texas. Everyone in my family is a Christian but me. Everyone I know in my small town in central Texas is a Christian but me. As you can see my beliefs must be very strong.

If you say they are, then they must be. My question would be; why?

I guess I'll follow RevJP's example and introduce myself.
I've been a Christian since I was about 5. I'm also a Fundamentalist (nothing like setting myself up as a target :? , but I don't think I should hide it), and an Independent Baptist. I grew up in Japan, where my parents were missionaries. Now my dad's one of the directors of our mission board, and I live with my family in Greeville, SC (actually in Taylors).
I graduated from Bob Jones University in May 2004 with a degree in Church Music (piano), and completed one semester of grad work in Music Ed. Right now I'm looking for a school where I can study composition.
Anything else you want to know? I might answer it, and I might not 8) .

Hi Hannahjoy, In response, I can't help but plug my alma matta SUNY at Purchase It is a wonderful place to study, a true conservatory nestled in the deep woods of Westchester Country NY and a hop skip and a jump from NYC. I was a Visual Arts major though I do know that the music dept. is renowned and many of the children of today's working artists study there, like my best friend whose father was the Conductor of the Rochester Symphony and she was a dance major. It is certainly well worth a look see, for you. Well Good luck in your search, Piper

How long have you lived in Greenville? I've lived in Spartanburg pretty much my whole life. Did you enjoy Bob Jones? I know a few people that have gone there and they either loved it or they hated it.

Thank you for the link - I will definitely consider it.
"Nestled in the deep woods" sounds inviting :D , but NYC? :yikes:

I was born in Barge Hospital on BJU campus, went to Japan at 2, came back for furlough at 6, back at 7, furlough at 11, back at 12, furlough and college at 17 . . . (you are following all this, aren't you  ). All told, 9 1/2 years in Greenville.
The people who hate it generally can't stand the rules. For me, they were easier than at home O:) .
On the whole, I really enjoyed it. I'm glad to be out of it, though. It's not called "The Opportunity Place" for nothing - there are way too many opportunities. This break (not knowing I wouldn't be going back), I felt like I needed to "hurry up and relax" while I had the chance .

Yeah, I don't think I would enjoy having rules that strict. I'll always remember this kid in an abercrombie in the Greenville mall. He kept looking around as if he was scared and then when he got to the cash register he asked for his clothes to not be put in a bag because he went to Bob Jones and was afraid someone would see him with the bag. Way to strict for me...
