Why not be Catholic?

What is the most important reason that you do not want to be Catholic? Maybe Catholics can join this chat with a most important reason that they are Catholic.

The most important reason that I do not want to be Catholic is that in spring of 1820 Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were right in front of someone* and could have said, "Join the Catholic Church." or "Find a Catholic Bishop/Priest." (The Catholic Church was on the earth at that time.). Jesus Christ told him to join none of the churches which were on the earth (including Cathalocism).

Well, I would have to say that you have to show that the 'Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ' was actually in front of someone. Seems to me that if you are talking about Joseph Smith, he had a long history of being a con artist before he started the Mormon Religion.

That leaves skeptical people wondering why Jesus would have to go through a con artist for a revelation rather then let every one know .. Why work through a con artist turned prophet?

So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

The reason I don't want to be catholic is the same reason I don't worship any god or gods. Lack of evidence to support the claims.
I might be Teddy Roosevelt, but I ain't.

What joey said, plus an extra sprinkling of having seen the ill effects of its doctrine on my close family member, still discernible after 50+ years of freedom.

Might be considered an accessory to child molestation, conspiracy, etc. by tithing to an organization known to harbor criminals.
If all the ignorance in the world passed a second ago, what would you say? Who would you obey?

You only get one church-cracker and they get all pissy if you bring something to dip it into.

I invite you to respond to the thread. What do you think about Catholocism?
As to the second part of your post thank you for the blessing (Matthew 5:10-12).

Well, there are two ways I look at it. One, as some one who is not christian at all,
the concept of God turning himself into his own son to he can sacrifice himself to himself to save the world from himself just doesn't make much sense to me.

Then, when you look at the entire message of Jesus in the New Testament (his teachings, not the teachings about him), there is the whole 'you have a connection of God within you, you don't need all this pomp and circumstance'. The vast majority of the Catholic religion IS that Pomp and circumstance. Of course, that is true of a lot of the protestant religions too these days.

Too much of the Churches are full of glitter and pretty shows, and not that much of substance.
