As I contemplated joining, I first looked at the Forum banner image and realized that it was likely depicting the beginning of a love story, that of Jacob and Rachel-- when they met at the well near Haran. -When Harry met Sally of rom/com fame. (I'll have what she's having).
The Biblical version is a bit different of course, but Jake arrives at a well where shepherds are beginning to gather as they do each day to water the sheep in their care. When enough of them are there, together they roll off the heavy stone that sits atop the well and everybody can then access the water. Rachel shows up with her father's sheep and Jacob realizes that she is a relative and quite literally the girl of his dreams. Empowered, he rolls off the heavy stone by himself and he waters her flock. Impressive! And he's stricken by her. He weeps with joy and proceeds to stay at her father's house (his uncle) for a month before committing to seven years of labor in exchange for Rachel's hand in marriage. -it seemed to him only a few days, so great was his love for her-
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Sarah, Hagar, Keturah.... Rebekah.... Rachel, Leah, Bilhah and Zilpah. -and as it is said, the rest is history.
