hello, it will take me a few posts to get adjusted to the format and rules here. i have read them several times and will try to make sure i comply, but keep in mind i will make mistakes or forget. adjustments are never fun.
i am a private person so please do not ask personal questions because i will not answer them. in writing my name i prefer my username, 'archaeologist', but 'archie' or 'arch' is fine as well. oh and please just use my name just once in a post. i do not need to read it over and over as i usually know when you are talking to me.

Re: my first time
Post #2Not to worry. Someone will gently (or not so gently) remind you if you make a mistake or forget. The overriding rule is to maintain a level of civility and respect. In debate, this is most easily achieved by focusing on the arguments not the debaters. Our task is not to show that our opponent is completely dumb-ass stupid (although it does help our side when they are) but to show that his arguments are invalid, his evidence is faulty and his conclusions mistaken.archaeologist wrote: keep in mind i will make mistakes or forget.

Post #4Agreed. It is much more satisfying, as well as being within the rules, to DEMONSTRATE that one's opponent is an idiot, as opposed to merely SAYING so.McCulloch wrote:Not to worry.
