New guy to pick on.

Post by Coldfire »

I've been viewing this website for a month or so now and finally decided to join.

I've never really been an active member of any forum before, however this one has got me very interested. So much so that I have even thought about some of the discussions and debates before falling asleep at night.

I notice a lot of very intelligent people and look forward to engaging conversation and a possible learning experience

Thank you for having me.

Hi Coldfire,

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to your contributions.

Would you care to identify the theological position you will represent in debate?

Welcome! A word of advice from a veteran of forums: be as honest as possible and come with questions that interest you. The ones who come with bluster and bold claims are the first ones to disappear in a flourish of embarrassment.

Thank you.
My theological posistion has been tried and tested in the past few months. I've spent a lot of time searching the Bible for a literal Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek to English translation (if anyone has a great reference book for this i would greatly appreciate it) to better understand my Christian faith. The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 to "test all things"

In doing so, i came upon this website a while back and have been able to apply some of the debates from atheist and theist alike to better understand the Gospel and in turn become a Christian with a firmer foundation than i had before.

I am still growing, i am only 25. But one thing is for sure, regardless of any apparent lack of logical reasoning to prove such to some people; i believe i will not waver in my belief of there being a God.

I try to be as honest as i can, especially when it comes to my own beliefs. I'm not the type of person who joins a forum such as this to make bold claims lol, thanks for the advice, I've noticed some of the type you speak of.

I am still on a journey of knowledge and truth, so it wouldn't be a surprise to me and i hope not to anyone else, if my beliefs are changed due to the application of the insight i may receive from anyone and my research on the said "insight."

I've joined to grow and learn from the many intelligent contributors who have found it in their hearts to share their wealth of knowledge instead of keep it selfishly for themselves. ;) Thank you all in advance for that!

One of my own favorite passages in the Bible. It succinctly capsulizes the idea behind the scientific method and my own reason for leaving Christianity.

I will do my best to cure you of that. ;)
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.
