Introducing Myself

Post by Doogles »

Hi everyone! I'm new to this site. I'm an evangelical Christian (I'm attending a Southern Baptist church right now). I am 23 years old, in grad school getting an M.A. in History. I joined this site because I think this topics is vitally important. I am not an experienced debater but I have read and thought a lot about Christianity. "The unexamined life is not worth living." -Socrates.

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to us challenging each other, and hopefully finding common ground where we can.

Curious, why history?

My favorite subject is science, and more specifically zoology.

Welome Doogles

Hopefully the many folk who have also read and thought a lot about christianity that you will come across here will help with your further education on the origins and purpose of not only christianity but all manners of belief in general.

Welcome!

It seems like we have quite a bit in common.

I'm also very intereted in history. I live in the southern part of the United States and I also attend a Baptist church though I am an Agnostic.
"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." ~ Thomas Jefferson

Welcome
I suggest you read about the history of the formation of the canon of scripture. It will knock out any idea you may have had about God being involved.

Thank you. I like history because it is about people. Through history you learn about human nature and culture. It's also made up of stories, and is therefore interesting. Science is fine, but I think it would be tedious to do that as a job.
