African American's in the Catholic Church

Hey Everyone!
I'm new around here. But this looks like a great forum...very cool. I'm a practicing Catholic in California, middle aged..... getting used to this whole internet thing.

Have any African Americans gained positions of power within the Catholic Church? I'm embarrassingly naive as you can tell.
