Debating Runners!

Post by FinalEnigma »

An idea struck me while out running today, I'm trying to get in shape and get some exercise, and I'm sure there's others on here who are as well, so why not do it together and be accountable to one another? we all know that if you just do it on your own, with nobody to keep you honorable you're gonna cheat.

Now You don't have to run if running isn't your thing, you can walk, swim, bike, skip, fly or marathon somersault down the street if you like, the important thing is to get some exercise and keep up with it. You don't actually have to debate while running either, although that is worth bonus points.

I'm making a usergroup for this, and I know it's a bit silly and has nothing to do with the forum, but this is for everyone who's trying to get in shape, lose weight, or bring down their mile time.

I know I'm a few days late, but here's my new years resolution: To outrun everyone on DC&R! Now who's gonna stop me?
That's gonna be a tough one I know, as I'm not much of a runner at the moment, and I know at least Confused can outrun me, and I doubt shes gonna give ground without a fight.
And I know some of you have resolutions to get in shape. according to a poll on the news a few days ago that's the most common resolution, so who's up for doing it together? maybe a little competition and fun while we are at it?

So if you are interested, just post here with your current status(running time and distance, biking, swimming, walking, weight you're trying to lose[don't have to tell us your weight, just how much your trying to lose!]) and keep us updated every week or two weeks and post your latest accomplishment. Feel free to join the usergroup Debating Runners as well.(which I'm making right after this post)
I'll put up my mile time tomorrow once I get it timed.

I biked to the park again. I brought a back-pack with pool stuff intending to go swimming, but there was like 6-8 people in the pool, so I didn't want to go in. So I went and ran the trail at the park about 3 times stopping for sit-up/pushups/pullups along the way, then checked back at the pool. there were less people there, but I still wanted to wait so I waited around a bit, but by the time most of the people had left a short time later, the pool closed.
I'll probably go back tomorrow or the next day, Sunday evening isn't the best time to find a public pool with few people in it.

On the way home, I ran across a dog wandering around the road. a really small black dog. When I checked it's collar the address wasn't on the road I was on, so I called the number on the tag, and they said it wasn't their dog. I asked if they lived at the address on the tag and they said no. So I called my brother and had him google the address and give me directions, then put the dog in my backpack(and wore it on my front with the top open of course) and biked there(it was only about a mile). That was the right place and they were happy to get their dog back, so I did a good deed today. The dog seemed to like the ride too. :p

I don't know why the phone number on the tag was wrong. and I did double check that I dialed the correct number.

That was actually a photo of the brutal mass murderer Charles Manson when he was a preppy A student.

Found a good sleep aid apparently -

Today I biked 2.5 miles to a park, ran 8 miles while there, and did 90 sit-ups, 60 pushups and tricep-dips, and 30 pull-ups interspersed in my running, then I biked the 2.5 miles home.

I'm pretty sleepy right now. :P

Man you are rockin n rollin Joseph!! Great job. I have been away from the forum for a while (busy as hell) however, I have been doing a heck of a lot of climbing including Iron and Teanaway peaks in the Stuart Range. Huge verticle approaches and true wilderness experience. A little freaky being out that far alone when on some of the more exposed and steeper pitches. One slip & I will quickly know if god exists! The offer remains on the table if you want to visit.

I really want to, But I've been forbidden to hitch-hike anywhere, so its an issue of money. I've got a job now, an online work-from home thing that doesn't pay much. I'm looking for better, but its all I've got for now, and I'm trying to get up enough money to even pay for my classes next semester. I do have some credit with an airline, but that's sort of spoken for, and I'm not sure if that airline goes to Washington anyway. I've checked out bus and train ticket prices, but it's just as cheap to go by air(about 200 either way if I book in advance).

So I'm not sure what my options are. If I can come up with a way to do it before school starts back up(In approximately 2 months) then I'm there.
