Hi!
I am currently a 46 yr old astrophysics major at an accredited university who is interested in the whole science vs religion debate. Among other things, I have been studying the Urantia Book for several years and have found some things of interest contained there in but remain skeptical of the so-called FER even so. There are certain tenets of Christianity which I also value but the main premise that Jesus had to die for our sins I fail to comprehend. Likewise, the other main religions seem to have value until religionists become fanatical anyway. I look forward to many useful and productive debates on this forum!

Congratulation, welcome and I to went to school shortly after the death of my mother!ryeman wrote:Hi Goat!
This seems like a very interesting forum. Thanks for your interest!
I have been attending college since 2003. Got an Associates Degree in 2006. Started as an education major but changed to physics and transferred to a university which offers an astrophysics program for undergrads.
What made me decide to go to college at such an age? Long story. I'll attempt an edited version. I am a recovering addict & alcoholic who has been clean & sober since April of 2002. My mom passed away in 2003 after I had decided to turn my life around and goto college. These events have enabled me to discover an inner source of strength that I was not aware of in my formerly dysfunctional life.
I've always loved science and astronomy and am fairly good at math. Community college was relatively easy and I graduated with a 3.824 GPA. I knew university curriculum would be more difficult and this has proven to be the case having just completed my first year working on a B.S. in physics. But for those members of this forum who have never experienced the hell of chemical dependency, I can only say that I consider it a blessing to have a second chance at life! I don't intend to waste it.

Thanks nygreenguy! How do you like college? I guess that since both of us are attending college and have lost our moms, we have something in common.
