What do you like to do?

Post by DavidBG »

Hello, some of you might know me, David from the forum. I am a Christian YEC.

I was wondering what some of your hobbies are. Here are some of mine:

I am a fencer. I really enjoy this sport.
I love chess. I am not as good at this as I am at fencing due to it's recursive depth, but it is still fun.
I am a particular fan of shooting. I have several guns, all of I which I can shoot at moderate levels of accuracy. I am not exactly a hunter, more of a target-shooter. My favourite challenge is shooting clay-trap targets with a pistol.
Biology, Cosmology, and mathematics.
Finally, I'll mention computer programming, particularly science simulations.

And of course, debate. ;)

So what do you like?

Are you doing it online?
No, but it is by distance.

You listen to a bunch of CDs, read some books, take some paper tests, write some essays, and then mail them in.

More info here.

Hm, thanks for the info. Have you actually learned anything new from the course or is it just basic knowledge.

Biology and mathematics.
Computer programming, particularly science simulations. (Biophysics/biochemical/genetic sims. Tinkers with text-mining algos. See previous hobby.)

Oh, wait. Two of those are also my job. It's nice to get paid for things I enjoy doing.
Yes, it's great when you're paid to do your hobbies!

Seems we have a lot of similar hobbies. ;)

I am a foil and epee. (Mostly epee, actually)

Looks interesting to me too, I just have to check this one out. Looks like they've got a Science section too.

Mostly just basic knowledge. The main reason I'm getting the certificate is that I'm planning on becoming a Certified Apologetics Instructor.

I would love to try. I just got a foil but have yet to had time to pursue it!

Hate to be the one to break it to you but most people use shotguns to shoot trap...I would guess that you would be a great hunter!

I enjoy playing music, although mostly with a cd player, not an instrument.
I am also a fan of shooting, just bought a new pistol and have put a few rounds through it. Very nice shooting German made gun!
Outdoors is probably a favorite place of mine to be.

Reading, I love to read... everything, but mostly fiction (novels and plays).
Listening to all kinds music, live and out of my extensive collection.
Debating of course :D
Going to the theater / Going out to other places with friends
Travelling (would do much more often if I had money)
Dancing (recreative)
I recently started going to a gym, and to my surprise, I'm loving it.
And whatever else is new.

What a lovely idea for a message thread, and a quick introduction. These are the things I love.

Most of all, people! I like to entertain, and the larger the crowd, the better.
Restoring cars, boats, and airplanes, so, of course, flying, skiing (snow and water), and driving.
Arguing with people on message boards, and I'm on an eternal quest to find a place where I can do so without offending someone and getting kicked off (it isn't easy).
Producing international karaoke CDG. Although I have not yet decided whether or not to sell my work, I enjoy doing demos on karaoke night. I sing in English, French, and German. I also love to listen to others sing, whether they are good or not, because they are enjoying themselves, and that's a good thing!
All things French, the language, food, wines, movies, women, and music.
Drugs! I love drugs, especially alcohol and caffeine.
Women! Did I mention women?
Most of all, I love my husband. He is one of two or three people in a possible universe who could put up with me.

Wow you guys do lots of stuff! I have had a go at most things at one time or another but I seem to work more than play these days, don’t mind that though because I also get paid for what I would do as a hobby if I could afford it. I haven’t sky dived and was never able to mono ski but did some shooting when I was a gunner in the navy and as a hobby after, until hand guns got banned in UK. Did a bit of foil. Still enjoy Parasending and diving on holiday but most of my hobbies are slower now.
 I frequent a gym,.. a church,.. and a cinema, reasonably regularly but I must admit the pub usually takes priority.

How is that gun ban working out in the UK? Did it get rid of all of the crime?
