I agree completely and you make an important observation that I had not completely considered.

My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

"The historical method can only tell us what probably or most likely happened in the past. Since miracles are, by definition, improbable, if not in fact impossible, they are methodologically outside the bounds of historical inquiry.
History, then, as a disciple, cannot tell us if Jesus was divine or worked miracles any more than it can for Alexander the Great or Caesar Augustus[...]Any supernatural claim about Jesus can only be accepted as a matter of faith. Again, this is the domain of theology rather than history."

You got two choices; either swallow blood, or swallow pride. I am a grown man, I will DIE before I swallow mine. Catch him at his school, and turn his college into COLUMBINE.

"Well, it appears that based on the evidence they must believe in a flat earth if they wish to believe in the Bible god as he was created by the Jews long ago."
Exactly.

"Do you see the contradiction? If nothing is impossible with god, then he can lie."
Exactly.
With God nothing is impossible EXCEPT for,.... blah, blah, blah. And we need for these things to be impossible for God in order to preserve God's righteousness.
If I could include a rolling-eye emoticon here I would.

Excellent reply. I disagree on substance, but it's thoughtfully and, I think, sincerely written.

Extraordinary evidence requires extraordinary claims.

Those had not occurred to me, and of course, you are correct.
With these additions, I am perhaps 80% certain that Jesus was a Roman agent.
That is up about 20%.

I will never understand how someone who claims to know the ultimate truth, of God, believes they deserve respect, when they cannot distinguish it from a fairy-tale.
You know, science and logic are hard: Religion and fairy tales might be more your speed.
To continue to argue for the Hebrew invention of God is actually an insult to the very concept of a God. - Divine Insight
