I'm asking, is the Talmud a book about religious matters ;or is it something else entirely.
And should the women of America ,of all faiths , feel indignant over its contents and its portrayal of the female of the species?
Is the Talmud a book on ;How to succeed in this world without really trying?
And who has to pay for the others to succeed ?
Is the TALMUD a religious book .

That Talmud is a book discussing religious law.. with commentary and trying to figure out how to fit the older rules in to what was then the current environment. You might say that it is an equivalent to a 3rd century religious forum of rabbis arguing about things.
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Should we be subjected to these OLDER rules?
MISHNAH. FIVE KINDS OF BLOOD IN A WOMAN ARE UNCLEAN: RED, BLACK, A COLOUR LIKE BRIGHT CROCUS, OR LIKE EARTHY WATER OR LIKE DILUTED WINE. BETH SHAMMAI RULED: ALSO A COLOUR LIKE THAT OF FENUGREEK WATER OR THE JUICE OF ROASTED MEAT; BUT BETH HILLEL DECLARE THESE CLEAN. ONE THAT IS YELLOW, AKABIA B. MAHALALEL DECLARES UNCLEAN AND THE SAGES DECLARE CLEAN. R. MEIR SAID: EVEN IF IT DOES NOT CONVEY UNCLEANNESS AS A BLOODSTAIN IT CONVEYS UNCLEANNESS AS A LIQUID. R. JOSE RULED: IT DOES NEITHER THE ONE NOR THE OTHER.
WHAT COLOUR IS REGARDED AS 'RED'? ONE LIKE THE BLOOD OF A WOUND. 'BLACK'? LIKE THE SEDIMENT OF INK; IF IT IS DARKER IT IS UNCLEAN AND IF LIGHTER IT IS CLEAN. 'BRIGHT CROCUS COLOUR'? LIKE THE BRIGHTEST SHADE IN IT. 'A COLOUR LIKE EARTHY WATER'? EARTH FROM THE VALLEY OF BETH KEREM OVER WHICH WATER IS MADE TO FLOAT. 'ONE LIKE DILUTED WINE'? TWO PARTS OF WATER AND ONE OF WINE OF THE WINE OF SHARON.

Perhaps you'd be kind enough to share your sources on the Talmud...
Do you even know what the Talmud is and what it teaches? Please enlighten us.

Ah.. Quote mining.. you rip a single line, out of context..and fail to quote the section chiding the person about taking the converstation out of context. Pretty miserable if you ask me.

Bad luck for you: I happen to own this book. Allow me to quote a rather longer excerpt from the passage which you quote. It’s really very apropos to your use of it in the present context:
I think the passage above speaks for itself -- and makes clear both your deliberate deception and your shameful, scurrilous intent.Ammiel Hirsch in [i]One People, Two Worlds,[/i] letter dated February 14, 2001 wrote: …You are not interested in pronouncing authoritatively on the Torah and Talmud. You are not interested in discovering their internal truth. You are only interested in distorting and exploiting them to further your agenda. So let us have this out once and for all. Let us put your “authoritative pronouncements to the test.
In the very same posting in which you define our discussion as a political power struggle rather than an intellectual exchange, you toss in two more appalling distortions designed to misrepresent the Talmud’s attitude toward women.
You quote the Talmud’s statement (Shabbat 152a_) that a woman is like a “jug full of excrement whose opening is full of blood yet men chase after her as a denigration of women. Very well, let us view this statement in its context. Is it true or is it taken out of context and distorted? The Talmud states: “Rav Kahana said: ‘What is the meaning of that which is written (Psalms 33:9), “For He spoke, and it came to be? This refers to women. And [the conclusion of the verse]. “He commanded, and it endured? This refers to children.’ There is a [beraita] teaching: ‘A woman is like a jug full of excrement whose opening is filled with blood yet all chase after her.’
Rav Kahana states that the attraction to women and the desire to have children are essentially illogical. Physical desires help keep a person alive, but emotional needs are not essential for survival. A man is drawn to food because he is hungry, to water because he is thirsty, but why should he be drawn to a woman? And why should he want to invest so much wealth, energy and endless patience in raising children? It is only because God decreed that it should be so. “For he spoke, and it came to be that a man should be drawn to women. “He commanded, and it endured that he should want children. The Talmud supports this statement with the beraita that “a woman is like a jug…, pointing up the irrationality of the attraction to a body whose beauty is only skin-deep, a skin that covers a decidedly unattractive mass of organs, sinews, excrement, and blood….
“….The attitude revealed in this talmudic statement is actually the exact opposite of your distortion,. Since it clearly took a special divine decree to generate sexual attraction and the desire to procreate, they must have been designed for a higher purpose. As the Talmud tells us (Sotah 17a), “When a man and a woman marry, the Divine Presence rests between them."
Anything else?

Based on your knowledge of the Jewish people, do you think this is something that they believe and teach?
Yes, I certainly do.
read what follows: Pearls of wisdom from the TALMUD.Herman Wouk, the very popular Jewish writer, describes the influence of the Talmud as follows:
Can you understand what he's saying here?
The Talmud is to this day the circulating heart’s blood of the Jewish religion. Whatever laws, customs, or ceremonies we observe — whether we are Orthodox, Conservative, Reform or merely spasmodic sentimentalists — we follow the Talmud. It is our common law. [1]Highlights from the Talmud
• Even the best of the [Gentiles] should be killed. (Babylonian Talmud, Funk And Wagnalls Jewish Encyclopedia. 1907. Gentile. New York. p.617)
• If a heathen [Gentile] hits a Jew, the Gentile must be killed. Hitting a Jew is hitting God. (Sanhedrin 58b)
• For murder, whether of a Cuthean [Gentile] by a Cuthean, or of an Israelite by a Cuthean, punishment is incurred; but of a Cuthean by an Israelite, there is no death penalty. (Sanhedrin 57a)
• Only Jews are human. [Gentiles] are animals. (Baba Mezia 114a- 114b)
• [Gentiles] prefer sex with cows. (Abodah Zarah 22a-22b)

• A Jew may marry a three year old girl (specifically, three years “and a day old). (Sanhedrin 55b)
• A Jew may have sex with a child as long as the child is less than nine years old. (Sanhedrin 54b)
• When a grown-up man has intercourse with a little girl it is nothing. (Kethuboth 11b)
• Jews may use lies (“subterfuges) to circumvent a [Gentile]. (Baba Kamma 113a)
• What a Jew obtains by theft from a Cuthean [Gentile] he may keep. (Sanhedrin 57a)
• God will not spare a Jew who marries his daughter to an old man or takes a wife for his infant son or returns a lost article to a Cuthean [Gentile]… (Sanhedrin 76a)
