When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?
If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.
We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.
Matthew 5:5
Psalm 37:9-11,29

Post #3341You focused on "burned up".onewithhim wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 8:50 pmYou are confusing the issue. The Greek word that is translated as "burned up" is also translated as "revealed" or "discovered." There is more than one way to translate that word. Your Bible lexicon most probably is defining the English word "burned," [up] not the original Greek word. You said awhile back that "discovered" or "revealed" are other acceptable variations for the word being discussed. It doesn't have to mean burned up. You posted it yourself.
We have to consult Bible lexicons once in a while to understand fully what the context and Bible words means.
What you said about "revealed or discovered" is one of the definition of "burned up."
What the Bible lexicon recently defined as literal as "to reduce to ashes' as 'to burn up completely' or 'to destroy by fire and leave only ashes" is the word "ashes" not "burned up". Hope you get it now.
Please re-read my responses about "ashes" definition. Hope you see it now.

But didn't you find the acceptable variation "revealed" or "discovered" in one of your lexicons?
What you said about "revealed or discovered" is one of the definition of "burned up."

But after that I have presented to you the word "ashes" to what happened to Sodom and Gommorah as part of the earth that it was reduced to ashes by fire. Bible lexicon defined "ashes" as to burn completely or destroy by fire and leave only ashes. That's my Post#3335 pointed out.
Louw and Nida Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament define "ashes" in Greek "tefrosas" as 'to reduce to ashes' as 'to burn up completely' or 'to destroy by fire and leave only ashes.'
2 Peter 2:6
6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly thereafter;
NT:5077
'ashes,' to destroy by reducing something to ashes - 'to reduce to ashes.'
'(God) condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, reducing them to ashes' 2 Peter 2:6. It is possible to render 'to reduce to ashes' as 'to burn up completely' or 'to destroy by fire and leave only ashes.'

Re: Paradise on Earth
Post #3344Once again you say, "Bible lexicon says that the earth will be "revealed." That is one definition. Let's go with that definition. It is as acceptable to the Lexicon writers, as is "destroyed" or "burned up." So my argument is that if we say that the earth and the works in it are "revealed," then that mitigates the idea of being burned up. What will happen is that all the evil works that happen in the earth will be revealed as to what they really are and where they came from and who did them, and then they will be destroyed. It's not the earth that will be destroyed but the "ungodly men" that perform evil deeds.(2Peter 3:7) Peter compares this event to Noah's day when "the world of that time suffered destruction when it was deluged with water." You might notice that it says that the earth was destroyed by the water. Was it literally destroyed? No, it remained. It was the ungodly people that were destroyed. The same thing will happen in the near future. The earth will remain and the ungodly people will be destroyed.Capbook wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 1:04 amI believe I understand your post, I colored blue where you focus your argument on, "burned up", yes, it is also defined by Bible lexicon as revealed or discovered.onewithhim wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 8:40 pmSadly, you just don't understand my post.
