Quick BBCode Tutorial

BBCode allows you do special formatting of your posts. BBCode are special tags that are enclosed in square brackets ([]). All tags must have a starting tag and an ending tag. The ending tag is the same as the starting tag with a slash (/) in it.
I will give the actual BBCode examples below, but what will show up will be in the next post.
1. How to quote
When you want to quote someone, surround the text you want to quote with the [quote] code. The easy way to do this is to hit the Quote button on the post that you want to reply to. It will then automatically insert a [quote] tag at the beginning and a [/quote] tag at the end.
Examples:
[quote]
This is a quoted text.
[/quote]
To specify who you are quoting, add the person's name inside the quote tag.
[quote="Eve"]
I am Eve.
[/quote]
To do nested quotes, make sure tags are balanced. The inner quotes tags should be within the outer quote tags.
[quote="Adam"]
[quote="Eve"]
I am Eve.
[/quote] <-- ends Eve's quote
Madam, I'm Adam.
[/quote] <-- ends Adam's quote
You can have quite complex nested quotes.
[quote]
[quote="Adam"]
[quote="Eve"]
I am Eve.
[/quote]
Madam, I'm Adam.
[/quote]
[quote="Eve"]
I'm a Madam Adam, am I?
[/quote]
[quote="Adam"]
Even in Eden I win Eden in Eve.
[/quote]
[/quote]
2. How to link
If you want to generate a link, surround your text with the [url] tag.
Example:
[url=http://debatingchristianity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4]Welcome to DebatingChristianity.com[/url]
If you want to link to a specific post, go to that post and click on the image on the top left that looks like a piece of paper. That will then give you the URL for that post.
3. How to display an image
To display an image, surround the URL of the image with the [img] tag.
Example:
[img]http://debatingchristianity.com/forum/i ... /logo1.gif[/img]
4. How to bold
To bold something, surround the text with the [b] tag:
Example:
[b]Hello world[/b]
When you use BBCode, make sure that you uncheck the "Disable BBCode in this post" to activate BBCode.
Also, it is a good idea to first preview the post to make sure all BBCode tags are working.
