This came up in a discussion I had today. The question was:

If you are thinking about God while masturbating, is it ok?

This hasn't really been thought out very well, but it'll get the ball rolling

God = Love
According to Christian thought, one is supposed to only have sex with one you love, and loves you (or around about that).
Now, because God = Love, he can only love you.
Christianity tell us to strive for a special relationship with God.
Marriage is a special relationship with another human being in which you can have a sex.


So, God = love, therefore God can't do anything but love you.
If you love God, and have a special relationship with him - as christianity is so eager for us to do, you are therefore, able to have sex with God, if you so wished. Because that is not physically possible (human being physical, God being non-physical), masturbation with God on your mind is as close as you can get. So, I conclude, that masturbation while thinking about God is A-OK.

Go on, pick some holes if you like - I know I haven't done well. I want to generate a few responses.

Sure its ok. It is a well known fact in the human and animal kingdom that an organism is naturally atracted to the most powerful organism in its midst. I will use a lioness as an example. When a lioness chooses her mate, she looks for the strongest male with the most territory in his possesion. This ensures that the lioness will be well protected from unwanted males, have lots of territory, and her cubs will have a strong bloodline.

The same is true for humans. We naturally want to hump the most powerful being we can. So if god is the most powerful thing to you, then the closest thing to humping him would be to wackoff with him in your mind.

Ok... but I have yet to hear of a lioness trying for something outside her species.

How would it be going outside of the species? Does the Bible not say that man is made in the image of god?

Also, just because you have never seen the act or the offspring of an interspecies breeding, does not mean it does not happen.

I'm sorry, but saying we are in the same species of God is ridiculous. How can mortal and immortal beings be in the same species?

I am aware that interspecies breeding does occur. (isn't that how we get mules?)

But you used the example of a lioness and lions. Your analogy to humans and God is not supported by the example you gave. Furthermore, the difference between us and God is much more than us and anything on this earth.

Your "example" of interspecies breeding is not correct. Donkeys and horses (the two breed to conceive mule) are of the same species and of the same family.

What I used was an example in reality( that I thought most people could understand) to show how an organism is attracted to the most powerful thing. What you are doing is taking this debate completely off topic. If you would like to debate whether or not god and man are of the same species, I suggest you read up on your biology and start another topic.

This is blatantly inaccurate. In order to be considered in the same species, the male and female must be able to produce fertile offspring. This is a basic principle of Biology. Mules, for the great majority are infertile.

You have to recognize that our animal class system is a human invention for scientific organization. If there is a God then He would have to remain outside this class system.

You are right, we should get back on topic before you embarrass yourself further.

If anyone here is not a Christian, I can't tell them that masturbating while thinking about god is wrong. But Christians should not behave in such a way.
