This thread seesm to be degenerating into irrelevancies.
In addition, it is now 76 pages long with over 750 posts, all generated by an OP which arguably does not meet the rules. That this happened, is of course, mainly our responsibility as moderators.
However, I think it is time to say that this thread has outlived its useful life.
With thanks to the many who have contributed to the thread, we are going to close it and suggest that those who wish to debate the topics that have arisen recently start new, more focused threads to continue the debate on those topics.
